Received this e-mail today from former Presidential candidate, South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D. IN), in support of Sara Gideon’s (D. ME) U.S. Senate campaign:
Sara Gideon (D. ME)
This November, we have a chance not only to defeat President Trump, but also to take back the Senate for Democrats so we can finally start making progress on the issues that motivated us to get in this fight in the first place.
It’s our chance to build the era that comes next — an era where all Americans, no matter where they live or how much money they make, can access quality health care. We can launch an era in which anyone can get a good education without being saddled with student loans for the rest of their life.
But we can’t do any of that with Mitch McConnell as Majority Leader.
That’s why I’m personally reaching out to you to ask you to help Sara Gideon win in Maine and flip this Senate seat.
I know that for many of you, politics is probably the last thing you want to hear about right now. It’s understandable to want to turn the news off and step away entirely during these stressful and uncertain times.
But we have to do everything in our power to make sure we elect leaders who will stand up for us in the face of challenge.
