It appears that another nickname is trending for our Moscow Mitch: Massacre Mitch.
Sunday evening and Monday morning, in the aftermath of two mass shootings over the weekend in Texas and Ohio, there was a new one — “Massacre Mitch.”
Many critics in Kentucky and across the U.S. have placed much of the blame for the weekend’s shootings, which claimed 22 lives in El Paso, Texas, and nine more in Dayton, Ohio, at the feet of McConnell, who has blocked gun control legislation in the past and has at times publicly celebrated the nation’s lax access to firearms.
Proposals that would ban the manufacture and sale of assault-style weapons and ammunition magazines and would extend the amount of time firearms dealers must wait for a background check response before a sale have found support in the nation’s Capitol, but have reached an impasse on the Senate floor, which is controlled by McConnell.
Maybe, just maybe the Media is beginning to notice that little things like mass shootings are the province of our legislative Grim Reaper McConnell? This article is from the Louisville Courier-Journal.
NOTE: I suspect that McConnell’s shoulder injury will be used as a convenient excuse not to bring the Senate back from their precious recess to deal with the latest mass shootings.
