Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D. MA) in support of these Democratic candidates:
Democrats have a real shot at winning in November – and women are leading the way. In fact, more than twice as many Democratic women are running for Congress this year than in 2016 – woo-hoo!
I’m goose-bumps excited to support four women running for Congress in 2018: Ayanna Pressley in Massachusetts, Abby Finkenauer in Iowa, Katie Hill in California, and Sharice Davids in Kansas. These women are smart, strong, experienced – and they won’t be bullied by anyone, especially not Donald Trump.
But let’s be clear: The powerful interests aren’t going to pull out a chair and invite Ayanna, Abby, Katie, and Sharice to have a seat at the table. If we want to win in Iowa, California, Kansas, and Massachusetts, we're going to have to fight our hearts out for it.
Can we count on your support? Chip in $4 now – or whatever you can afford – to Ayanna Pressley, Abby Finkenauer, Katie Hill, and Sharice Davids’ campaigns and help elect four more incredible women to Congress.
Here are a few things I want you to know about our candidates:
Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) just became a national leader for winning a hard-fought primary here in Massachusetts – but Ayanna has been a leader in Boston for years. She’s a fierce advocate for women, working families, and communities of color. She will be a powerful force for change, and we need her voice in Congress.
Abby Finkenauer (IA-01) is a strong voice for working families in Iowa. As an Iowa state representative, Abby has fought tooth and nail for women’s health, strong unions, and Medicaid expansion. Like me, Abby grew up in a working class community and is a first-generation four-year college graduate. Donald Trump only won Abby’s district by four points in 2016, and I know she can win this November if we help her keep the momentum up.
Katie Hill (CA-25) will be a champion not just for some Californians, but all Californians. She’s fighting for universal health care, gun reform, the environment, and more. Katie is committed to running a true grassroots campaign – she doesn’t take corporate PAC money. But Katie’s in a tough race. Her Santa Clarita district hasn’t been represented by a Democrat since 1993, and political pundits are calling the race a “toss-up.” Katie needs our support.
Sharice Davids (KS-03) is fighting for progress with the same strength she used to bring to the MMA ring. Some of her biggest priorities are protecting health care and making it more affordable and leveling the playing field for working families. Sharice’s opponent, incumbent Republican Kevin Yoder, is buddies with Donald Trump and has a campaign war chest stuffed with money from the NRA. Let’s help her make history and elect a Native American congresswoman in Kansas.
I know these four women will be powerfully important voices in Congress. But it’s going to take a grassroots army to help push them over the top.
Thanks for being a part of this,
