Aside from advocating mass killing, Lara Trump agrees with VP Harris that migrants should not undertake a journey to the US southern border even as full consular service has not been restored to all US embassies since the end of the Trump regime.

(2020) Former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Chief of Staff Miles Taylor claimed in a podcast earlier this week that President Donald Trump told administration officials he wanted to “maim” and “shoot” migrants at the southern border.

On one occasion, he said, Trump asked for steel bollards “so sharp that I want them to pierce human flesh if they climb it.”

“Why don’t we just shoot them?” Taylor said the president asked, referencing migrants approaching the border in “caravans” in 2018.

“This was a man with no humanity whatsoever,” Taylor said.

(2019) President Donald Trump was tickled Wednesday when an audience member at a Florida rally suggested shooting migrants arriving at the U.S.-Mexican border.

Trump was bemoaning the legal protections afforded migrants and espousing the need for a border wall when he asked rhetorically, “How do you stop these people?”

“Shoot them!” someone shouted from the Panama City Beach crowd, according to multiple news media reports.

The remark drew a chuckle from the president, who shook his head, pointed in the audience member’s direction and said, “Only in the Panhandle you can get away with that statement.”

“Only in the Panhandle,” he repeated to laughs and cheers from the crowd.

Gadsden flag att 'Minutemen' muster in Blaine, WA 2006
Sinclair Lewis portrays Minute Men as paramilitary forces of Buzz Windrip’s despotic government in his 1935 book It Can’t Happen Here. In the book the fascist-like militia is called “Minnie Mouses” by the populace.

(2016)

The homegrown border militia had thousands of members in the mid-2000s. Today, the group has splintered into several rival factions, many of which still regularly patrol the border.

[…]

Now, years after the movement’s disintegration, the Minutemen are making headlines again—this time, in the 2016 presidential race. During a primary debate in Miami this month, Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton accused her opponent, Bernie Sanders, of supporting the group by voting for a 2006 amendment that prevented the US Department of Homeland Security from “providing a foreign government with information relating to the activities of an organized volunteer civilian action group,” including the Minutemen.

[…]

While Democrats have used the Minutemen as a symbol for anti-immigration extremism, the Republican presidential candidates seem to have embraced the movement’s message, if not the vigilantes themselves. In fact, Gilchrist thinks his group deserves credit for informing the GOP field’s positions on the topic of immigration.

“My mission has been accomplished, and that was to force national awareness of the immigration issue,” Gilchrist told me. “Now every political candidate has a platform on immigration. The Minutemen even inspired the Tea Party.”
