KY-Sen: New York Daily News Gives Moscow Mitch A New Nickname

2 min read

Yep, sounds right:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) will likely not be cock-a-hoop over the New York Daily News Tuesday front page.

“Chicken Kiev,” reads the tabloid’s headline, next to an image of a chicken with McConnell’s head. “Mitch refuses to budge on witnesses despite Bolton’s Ukraine bombshell,” the newspaper adds underneath.

The Daily News’ cover story centers on McConnell’s refusal to allow witnesses to testify in the Senate impeachment trial of Donald Trump over his Ukraine misconduct, despite former national security adviser John Bolton reportedly confirming Democrats’ case against the president in his upcoming book “The Room Where it Happened.”

By the way, Amy McGrath’s (D. KY) campaign is going after Mitch for trying to turn this in a sham trial. Received this e-mail today from McGrath’s campaign:

Amy McGrath (D. KY)

The impeachment trial is at a critical moment, friend.

The Senate will soon decide whether to hear testimony from key witnesses. What they decide will change the course of the trial and will show America how seriously they’re taking their constitutional duties.

And guess what: Mitch McConnell has tried to block these witnesses—including former National Security Advisor John Bolton—from sharing what they know.

Obstruction like this makes a mockery of Mitch’s duty to run a fair, independent trial. Add your name right now—demand that the Senate allow witnesses in the impeachment trial.

Thank you,
Team McGrath
