Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley (D. OR) in support of Amy McGrath (D. KY), Sara Gideon (D. ME), Barbara Bollier (D. KS) and Theresa Greenfield’s (D. IA) U.S. Senate campaigns:
I want to tell you about four incredible women. They've all got their own unique story, but they have one really important thing in common:
With your help, they are all going to be U.S. Senators.
These women are going to be the difference as to whether or not Mitch McConnell is running the Senate next year, or if he's knocked off his perch.
Amy McGrath? You know her. She's the fighter pilot and anti-corruption advocate who is taking the fight directly to Mitch McConnell in Kentucky.
Sara Gideon is Maine's Speaker of the House. As someone who once had that job in Oregon, I know how hard it is to keep a team of legislators together and focused on getting things done. And Speaker Gideon has been masterful, unafraid to take on Maine's former governor when he was “Trump before Trump was Trump”.
Barbara Bollier is a doctor who went to the Kansas State Senate to make health care affordable for her patients, fully fund schools, and bring her state back from the economic disaster that was the result of a right-wing policy experiment gone (predictably) wrong.
Theresa Greenfield is a successful business and community leader in Des Moines who has overcome tragedy and challenges, losing her husband to a workplace accident when she was a young mom, and is fighting to create opportunities for all Iowans.
This is about how we're going to take back our country and make it work for everyday families and Main Street. That's why we need a team from top to bottom, because this is about all of us.
These four remarkable women can and will win this year — but only if we come together and take a stand against the Republican dark-money machine that's fueling their opponents' campaigns.
