Kitchen Table Kibitzing Friday #5Jobs #5Tags

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share a virtual kitchen table with other readers of Daily Kos who aren’t throwing pies at one another. Drop by to talk about music, your weather, your garden, or what you cooked for supper…. Newcomers may notice that many who post in this series already know one another to some degree, but we welcome guests at our kitchen table and hope to make some new friends as well.
Please do not attack Democratic candidates or drag primary fights into our community.

A person I liked very much who just retired in Texas, used to send me non-Ponzi scheme chain letters. This was prior to the internet and social media, yet it is amusing to see this social network persist in Twitter. This theme came up as I think of entering the job market again, despite the high unemployment numbers.

In this version, you list five jobs you’ve had and you forward the request to five others in Twitter. Another version lists four jobs you’ve had and one you’ve haven’t. The latter is not unlike Utah’s firing squad method of capital punishment execution where one member of the firing squad fires a blank at the prisoner (see Gary Gilmore).

Meme:

A Twitter post has inspired users to share their five most random or interesting jobs, from chemical hazardous waste removal tech to working the line at Golden Corral. But as the meme post got more popular, things started taking a bizarre turn.

The “five jobs” meme all began normal enough.
