Don’t care as long as we win. Prefer Harris, Warren, and Duckworth to stay in the Senate. Rice would make a better “heartbeat away” than Demings or any of the others. Democrats can’t keep defaulting to “party elders” or the corporatists.
NEW: Joe BidenâÂÂs VP candidates ranked by pick likelihood
1- Kamala Harris
2- Susan Rice
3- Karen Bass
4- Liz Warren
5- Val Demings
6- Tammy Duckworth
7- Keisha L Bottoms
8- Michelle L Grisham
9- Gretchen Whitmer
10- Gina Raimondo https://t.co/yNbVT8bbbb— Joyce Karam (@Joyce_Karam) July 27, 2020
Karen Bass, who has been described as a politician that doesn't seek headlines, was billed as the “anti–Kamala Harris” in an earlier Politico report, and responded with displeasure over the characterization.
“Senator Kamala Harris has spent her entire life fighting for the people,” she tweeted last week. “I would never want to be labeled the 'anti–Kamala Harris.' We're fortunate to have had her as Attorney General and now as Senator. She would be an excellent VP and the same goes for anyone else on the list.”
Bass' and Harris' offices did not respond to a Newsweek request for comment.
One concern from Democrats about Bass as a possible running mate is that with a public health crisis and sharp economic slowdown, voters won't have the bandwidth to get to know a new figure on the national stage, an area where Harris who has undergone public scrutiny and is well-known doesn't have the same problem.x

In many ways, Karen Bass is the anti-Kamala Harris.
And yet, the Californians have ended up in a similar spot: On Joe Biden's vice presidential shortlist https://t.co/QbIj363epM

I'm sure Karen Bass supports special interest legislation for Hollywood, but look at a map.
“Member of Congress backs hometown industry” gives you zero information about their views, behavior in higher office, or anything else of interest.https://t.co/Ki70wHtKIT

New me: What VP hopeful Karen BassâÂÂs youthful far-left activism, which included involvement w/pro-Cuba Veneremo Brigade, reveals about the larger arc of post-60s American politics. Plus: in 80s she successfully sued the LAPD for spying on her (and worse) https://t.co/cbqGe8NtEo

NEW VIDEO: Trump is the promise everything, deliver nothing President. He also thinks it's “really ridiculous, illegal, and, of course, very unfair!” that we can make #LyingTrump trend.Â
