Since it’s still cost-prohibitive to print ads on every Chicken McNugget box or porn star’s bum in the nation, Julián Castro did the next best thing. He took out an ad on today’s episode of Fox & Friends, which everyone knows is Donald Trump’s go-to infotainment show.
Here’s the ad and the transcript:
President Trump, you referred to countries as shitholes. You urged American congresswomen to go back where they came from. You called immigrants rapists. As we saw in El Paso, Americans were killed because you stoked the fire of racists. Innocent people were shot down because they look different from you. Because they look like me. They look like my family. Words have consequences. Ya basta [enough]. I’m Julián Castro, and I approve this message.
It’s a pretty good strategy, because Trump is no more capable of ignoring a direct attack on him than he is of standing on the White House lawn for more than 20 seconds without looking like Nick Nolte’s mugshot. So this could help raise Castro’s profile.
And, you know, what is Trump going to say? “I’m the least racist person you’ve ever met”? Yeah, we’ve heard that one before.
