Received this e-mail today from one of my personal political heroes, former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D. NV), in support of Paulette Jordan’s (D. ID) U.S. Senate campaign:
Paulette Jordan (D. ID)
I know you're hearing from lots of Democrats about so many races happening this fall. I want to tell you about Paulette Jordan’s race for the U.S. Senate in Idaho.
It has everything going for it to shock the Republicans in November:
The incumbent, Jim Risch, has been in the Senate for 12 years, and he's done nothing.Literally nothing. He's passed about 3% of the legislation he's proposed.
Idahoans don't like him.All the polls show that his approval rating is under 50%. And any incumbent under 50% — especially one in a supposedly red state — is in deep trouble.
He doesn't seem to have any idea what's going on in his home state. There's obviously a reason for that:95% of the donations to his campaign have come from outside Idaho,so his motivation is misplaced
Only a quarter of Idaho —25%!— thinks the country is headed in the right direction.
Paulette was born and raised in Idaho, and she lives in North Idaho in a small place called Plummer. She became a tribal leader when she was a youth.
She's proven she can take down a Republican incumbent: she knocked one down in the statehouse in 2014, and she won her seat again handily in 2016.
Paulette is the future of our party. If we're going to make real change for all Americans and make our government work for all of us, we need to help Paulette over the finish line.
She wants to expand health care for all Americans, protect our public lands, and save our taxpayers from bad investments— the kind that Jim Risch wants to make. Most of all, she is always fighting for the future, for her two sons, and for Idaho.
