So if you had one of the most fatuous, lurid, crass, and tasteless shows of the ‘90s, for Christ’s sake, and you were best known for opening a vault on national television that somehow had less musty garbage in it than your own mustache, you’d think it would be hard to fall any further.
Oh, you’d be wrong.
Geraldo Rivera, who revived his career as a something or other on Fox News, is a self-described “friend” of Donald Trump. And, apparently, he’s just starting to realize Trump is a racist:
Sad to watch my friend @realDonaldTrump take low road regarding @AOC of the Bronx, @RashidaTlaib of Detroit @AyannaPressley of Boston & @Ilhan of Somalia & Minneapolis. Let’s stick to issues & steer clear of language that’s xenophobic even racist. @POTUS you’re better than that.— Geraldo Rivera (@GeraldoRivera) July 14, 2019
Uh, no, he’s not better than that. What Bizarro Universe have you been living in for the past four years, Geraldo? There’s nothing but low road with this lout. And Trump is your friend? Why? How? The guy is not a friend to people of color. Just ask Frederick Douglass. He’ll tell you the same thing.
It’s not like we needed Donald Trump to reveal that Geraldo is a craven idiot, but it sure does help. And Trump’s morning tweets have given conservatives across the country yet another opportunity to get off the Trump-wagon. How many will actually seize it? If Geraldo’s mild rebuke is any indication, I’d guess somewhere between zero and none.
