Now that I’ve officially turned down the offer of employment from GEO Group I’m willing to share why I refused a full-time job with the whopping salary of $36,000 and change working for a company profiting from the human suffering that the Trump administration created at our southern border.

I applied for two positions with GEO Group’s North Lake Correctional Facility in this latest of a string of activations the for-profit prison has gone through since they opened their doors in the ’90s. One of the jobs was an academic instructor, which handles Adult Education and GED classes. The other job was education director, a job that requires a Master’s degree, which I have. GEO Group offered me the academic instructor position.
