Received these e-mails from Stacey Abrams (D. GA) in support of two fellow Georgia Democrats facing runoff elections next month. First, John Barrow (D. GA) for Secretary of State:
The governor’s race is over, but we still have a chance to make a difference and protect voting rights in Georgia:
My friend John Barrow is in the middle of a very tight runoff election for Secretary of State. He is running on a bold platform of protecting Georgians’ sacred right to vote.
After seeing such rampant voter suppression on Election Day, and witnessing how Brian Kemp used his office as Secretary of State to make it harder for some Georgians to vote, all of us should be working as hard as we can to help John win his runoff election on December 4th. We know what’s at stake.
Electing John Barrow as our next Secretary of State is how we ensure that in the next election, and the one after that, every eligible Georgian can cast their ballot without waiting in line for hours, or having to request an absentee ballot multiple times only to have it arrive late. It’s how we ensure that every vote is counted. That’s why I’m asking you:
Here’s the truth: Democracy only works when we work for it. And John Barrow will work hard to make sure that no Georgian has their voice shouted down by agents of voter suppression.
He’s the only qualified choice for the job, and I know he can win in just two short weeks.
Thank you for standing with us in the fight to protect voting rights in Georgia.
The second is in support of Lindy Miller (D. GA) for Public Service Commissioner:
I’m writing to you today on behalf of my friend, Lindy Miller, who needs our help in her run for Public Service Commissioner.
Public Service Commissioners are in charge of regulating public utilities like energy. Having a strong Commissioner like Lindy would allow us to make energy bills affordable for Georgia families while still protecting our natural resources.
Lindy is a lifelong Georgian with over a decade of experience as a businesswoman and small business owner. She understands that building a brighter future for Georgia requires investing in our infrastructure and bringing new, clean-energy jobs to our state.
Lindy Miller has already pushed a 12-year Republican incumbent into a runoff election. That’s no easy feat. But her race is extremely close, so she needs all of us standing beside her if she’s going to win on December 4th. That’s why I ask:
With the right priorities, we can make energy affordable, reliable, and clean for all Georgians. But in order to get there, we need Lindy Miller leading the charge.
I hope she can count on your support.
