Received this e-mail today from Civil Rights Hero, Rep. John Lewis (D. GA-05), in support of Jon Ossoff’s (D. GA) U.S. Senate campaign:
I need your help today in Georgia:
I’ve spilled blood struggling for civil rights. I’ve lost friends and heroes in the struggle against injustice.
We’ve been through dark times before.
But I can’t stand seeing Donald Trump spit on everything we fought for.
So now I need courageous leaders to fight back alongside me.
I know Jon Ossoff. I was his mentor.
Trust me: Georgia and America need this young man in the Senate.
These next few days will be the first major test of Jon’s campaign.
Today, Jon leads a team of journalists that exposes human rights abuses, corruption, and organized crime worldwide.
You may not know that he also served as a national security aide in Congress.
I worked with Jon in Congress. And I witnessed the courage and quality of his efforts. He took on defense contractors. He investigated mass surveillance of American citizens. He investigated attacks on American journalists.
Jon is brilliant, tough, and tenacious. He has a proven record fighting corruption and injustice.
That’s why he’s EXACTLY the kind of leader I want in the Senate.
There’s no doubt in my mind: We NEED Jon Ossoff as our next Senator from Georgia. If you agree, stand with me and join this fight right now with $5 or whatever you can give →
Seldom have I met a young leader who matches Jon Ossoff’s talent, strength, and dedication to our community.
When Jon ran for Congress in 2017, he inspired and mobilized people across the country. He gave us hope.
He also came under vicious personal assault from dark money Super PACs funded by powerful lobbies, and Jon was repeatedly attacked by President Trump himself.
They will stop at nothing to prevent a young person with Jon’s values and character from reaching the Senate. So we have to fight back twice as hard.
Togetherfor Jon, and for the future of our country.
Thank you for standing with us!
Congressman John Lewis
