Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D. MD) in support of Rev. Raphael Warnock’s (D. GA) U.S. Senate campaign:
I’m reaching out today with an urgent request: please help us win back the Senate and support the campaign of Reverend Raphael Warnock for U.S. Senate in Georgia.
Reverend Raphael Warnock, the longtime pastor of Atlanta's Ebenezer Baptist Church — the historic church that was led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. — has been a passionate and outspoken leader for social justice and equality. Now we are fortunate to have him running for the United States Senate.
The strength of his candidacy in this special election has caught Republicans by surprise. Recent polling has this race as a DEAD HEAT. Together, we can help carry him to an earthshaking victory in the 'Peach State' and move Democrats closer to taking back the Senate in November.
Warnock's main opponent is former Wall Street executive Kelly Loeffler — a consistent ally of Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell. Not long after being appointed to her Senate seat by the Governor of Georgia in January, she came under investigation for making million dollar stock trades after receiving a private Senate Intelligence Committee briefing on the spread of the coronavirus. Now she is desperately spending $20 million of her fortune to hold onto her seat in November. We must defeat her — and Rev. Warnock is the one to do it.
Born and raised in Savannah and a Morehouse alum, Reverend Warnock is running to make sure EVERY voice in Georgia is heard. Unlike his opponent, Warnock understands that every voice counts and that justice delayed is justice denied.
The contrast could not be starker between a man who spent his life serving the public and a former Wall Street executive who stands squarely behind Trump and McConnell’s polarized and poisonous vision for our country.
We need to do everything we can to help Reverend Warnock win so Georgia has a senator they can be proud of and Democrats can take back the Senate!
Let’s win this!
Thank you for all that you do,
