Received this e-mail from bad ass Rep. Katie Porter (D. CA-45) in support of Jon Ossoff’s (D. GA) U.S. Senate campaign:
In 2018, I ran for Congress against a two-term Republican incumbent and won, becoming the first Democrat to represent my Orange County, California district in decades.
It's safe to say that I know a thing or two about flipping red districts.
That's why I can say this with confidence:Jon Ossoff is exactly the candidate who can beat GOP Senator David Perdue in Georgia and help us take back the Senate.
If you're not familiar with Senator Perdue's work, I don't blame you. He hasn't accomplished much in the Senate, aside from lining his own pockets and helping out his corporate donors.
After a Senate briefing about the threat of COVID-19 at the beginning of the year, Perdue dumped casino shares and bought stock in manufacturers of protective medical equipment and vaccines instead of warning his constituents about the virus.
That wasn't a one-time thing — David Perdue has a long pattern of corruption.
He previously pushed to roll back regulations on prepaid debit cards; then he acquired stock in an industry leader that stood to benefit from the changes he helped implement.
It's simple: David Perdue is the poster boy for Washington corruption.
Fortunately for us,Jon Ossoff has spent much of his career uncovering and tackling exactly this kind of corruption. In so many ways, Jon is the antidote for Perdue.
While Perdue is funded by corporate donors,Jon Ossoff wants to end Citizens United and get dark money out of politics.
While Perdue has already voiced his support for Amy Coney Barrett, who will almost certainly support overturningRoe v. Wade, Jon Ossoff is committed to defending women's right to privacy when they make deeply personal health care decisions.
While Perdue has voted multiple times to gut the Affordable Care Act and strip protections for pre-existing conditions,Jon Ossoff will defend the ACA and fight for affordable, accessible health care for every American.
I need more corruption-fighters with me in Congress.
We need Jon Ossoff. But that's not all. He needs us.
