Received this e-mail today from former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s granddaughter, Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, on behalf of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee in support of Jon Ossoff (D. GA) and Rev. Raphael Warnock’s (D. GA) U.S. Senate campaigns:
Election results were finally certified by multiple battleground states after every major news network confirmed it weeks ago: Joe Biden is officially the President-elect of the United States. Take a moment to breathe and celebrate.
Biden’s win will mark the end of the national crisis that was the Trump administration. My grandfather, FDR, won the presidency in the middle of a national crisis, too.
But he didn't have Mitch McConnell, the self-described “Grim Reaper” of the Senate, to worry about — a man blocking every attempt at progress along the way. Neither should Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
Biden and Harris deserve a Democratic Senate that can make real, progressive change for the better — like my grandfather did — not one that will block bold legislation at every turn. We can make that a reality.
Two runoff elections are underway in Georgia for the U.S. Senate — and recent polls show both are neck-and-neck races. Those two seats would deliver the Senate to Democrats, paving the way for Democrats to help a nation that is hurting and to repair our democracy.
So many people like you have already worked so hard to get to where we are now. We are all tired. Nonetheless, we are not done. We need to focus on these two Senate seats like people's lives, our planet, and our democracy are at stake — because they are. And with these races so close, every single dollar makes a difference.
A Democratic Senate would mean we can get things done that reflect the will of the majority of voters. We can pass laws that have the security and strength of the whole country at heart — especially during this current moment of crisis.
And we can make sure our democracy reflects the will of the people by electing a Senate that will do what it takes to remove anti-democratic barriers — including fixing our imbalanced judicial system. We can win in Georgia — if you do what you can. Please, donate now.
Thanks for being a bold progressive.
