Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D. MA) in support of her colleague, U.S. Senator Bill Nelson’s (D. FL) re-election campaign:
Here’s what I’ve been reminding myself this week: Don’t just get mad. Get even. Fight back.
We won’t stop fighting back. At the same time, we’ve got to lay the groundwork for the fights to come – fighting to slam the breaks on Donald Trump’s assembly line of far-right nominees.
That means it’s more important than ever for Democrats to take back the Senate. But we can’t get it done if my friend Florida Senator Bill Nelson loses his neck-and-neck re-election race.
He’s being badly outspent by Rick Scott – a guy who oversaw the largest Medicare fraud in history and spent $75 million of his own money to get elected Governor in 2010.
So would you like to take your anger and do something right now that would make it harder for Donald Trump to ram through more judges?
Bill’s got one last big quarterly fundraising deadline this Sunday, and he needs our help. Will you chip in $4, or whatever you can afford, to Bill Nelson’s campaign right now to help him fight back against Rick Scott?
Whenever I need someone to help fight for our service members, veterans, and seniors struggling to make it on Social Security, I know I can count on Bill.
Then there’s Rick Scott. He got rich as a health care executive/fraudster. He rode the Tea Party wave to power, and he’s spent years blocking nearly 1 million Floridians from getting health care through Medicaid expansion. And he will vote for all of Trump’s nominees like Judge Kavanaugh.
Now, Rick Scott is buddy-buddy with Donald Trump. He’s dumped tens of millions of dollars from his vast private fortune into the race so he can be another Trump enabler in Washington. Far-right outside groups have jumped in to help Rick Scott, too – including the Chamber of Commerce and a hedge fund billionaire.
Please don’t make me have to serve in the Senate with this guy next year.
If Rick Scott wins, he could be the deciding Republican vote to rip health care away from tens of millions of Americans, throw more tax breaks at the rich, and hand more lifetime appointments to more of Donald Trump’s extreme judicial nominees.
Let’s fight to make sure we keep Bill Nelson in the Senate. He puts his head down and works hard for students, seniors, veterans, and working people – and now, we need to fight for him.
And I’ll be blunt: If Bill Nelson loses, our chances of taking back the Senate pretty much go out the window, too.
Thanks for being a part of this,
