So much iconoclasty, so little time to election day. Darn all those racist targets and their problematic cultural frames, constructed from their siting and historical context, all with social and political mediation. Darn all those genocidal reckonings, darn that 400 years. “Chicago has two Columbus statues and a pillar donated by Mussolini that is dedicated to fascism.”
So proud to be a Minnesotan right now. IâÂÂm thankful for the people who came together to take down this Columbus statue on our capitol grounds.
We asked for a long time. We lobbied. Nothing happened.
It was a good time for people to take action. pic.twitter.com/OFMpP8mrrN

And as if Heritage of the Civil War sort wouldn’t be offended by trashing the Columbus statue in the former capital of the Confederacy.
The Colombus statue has been thrown in the lake at Byrd Park. Protesters are standing on the statue and lifting fireworks over the lake in celebration. Most of the protesters have cleared out of the park in fear of retaliation and arrest by police. IâÂÂm heading to my car now too.

Remember that Trump tried to install a giant statue of Columbus, taller than Liberty, in Manhattan, but he couldnâÂÂt make a deal for the land. Ironically the statue, by a Russian sculptor, ended up in Puerto Rico. https://t.co/T8pbhKLDVZ

Holy Apostasy, Batman… there’s gonna be some St. Mickey’s days protests soon as the Catholic League will meet the Korean Baseball Organization in the World Baseball Series.
Christopher Columbus statues beheaded in Boston, and thrown in a lake in Richmond. https://t.co/X0gABf8OTK

If you are looking for statues of famous Italian Americans to replace Columbus, consider the 5 meter tall statue of Tony Soprano in Lithuania pic.twitter.com/8xlCFZAM0D
