Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Tim Kaine (D. VA) in support of John Hickenlooper’s (D. CO) U.S. Senate campaign:

John Hickenlooper (D. CO)

Throughout our work in the Senate addressing the coronavirus pandemic, I’ve been thankful for a bipartisan commitment to helping people get through this crisis. But it’s also become even clearer to me that if we want to put families, workers, and local governments on the path to recovery and prosperity, the best thing we can do is flip the Senate to Democratic control in November.

With more Democrats in the Senate, we can prioritize the critical work of protecting affordable health care, ensuring a liveable wage, and supporting public servants like teachers and firefighters. That’s why I’m writing to you today about a great Democrat who’s running for Senate: John Hickenlooper.

John was the mayor of Denver, governor of Colorado, and — something I love about him — he was the founder and owner of the Wynkoop Brewing Company brewpub. He knows what it’s like to run a small business, to manage a city, and to balance the needs of a big, diverse state.

Now, John’s running for the U.S. Senate against a Republican incumbent who falls in line with Donald Trump on everything from presidential war powers to building a border wall. It’s one of the most closely-watched races in the country and one of our prime opportunities to pick up a seat for the Democrats. If we want to have a chance at flipping the Senate, John has to win in November.

I know it’s a difficult time to think about making a political contribution. If you’re able to spare a few dollars to a campaign that could really use your support — and one that represents a big chance at gaining a Democratic majority — I’d really appreciate it. If you can, click here to chip in $15 or more directly to John Hickenlooper’s campaign for U.S. Senate in Colorado.

I’m proud to support John Hickenlooper, and I appreciate everything you’re doing to help, too.

Thank you.
