Received this e-mail today from former presidential candidate, South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D. IN), in support of former Governor John Hickenlooper’s (D. CO) U.S. Senate campaign:
For too long, the workings of our government have been captured, with corporate interests and the power politics of the wealthy dominating over the everyday needs of American families. In November, we have an exceptional opportunity to deliver better leadership to Washington.
You see, Democrats only need to flip four seats to take back the Senate majority this year. And nowhere is that more likely than John Hickenlooper’s race in Colorado.
I’m doing whatever I can to elect a Democratic Senate. That starts right here. Will you join me in adding a donation to John’s campaign before his end-of-month deadline in a few days? We can’t take back the Senate without your support.
Just as our country needs it most, John would bring common sense to Washington. He’s willing to roll up his sleeves, reach across the aisle, and get to work for everyday families. He’s even refusing to accept a single donation from corporate PACs because he wants to run this campaign the right way.
As governor, John led the fight to protect our public lands and combat climate change. He signed critical gun safety measures into law. And he expanded vote by mail statewide in Colorado.
Now more than ever, we need a leader like John in the Senate to fight for everyday families instead of the special interests corrupting our politics.
But that doesn’t mean Mitch McConnell and his special interest backers will go down without a fight. They’ve already announced $67 million worth of attack ads targeting Democrats like John. We’ll need strong grassroots support to fight off that kind of money. So, I’m asking:
John has always fought to do right by the people of Colorado. That’s how I know he'll make a great Senator, not just for Colorado, but for the entire country.
