So, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler is “considering” holding Corey Lewandowski in contempt after his contemptible stonewalling yesterday during Nadler’s committee hearing into Trump’s obstruction of Justice.

Outside Counsel Barry Berke salvage at least something from yesterday’s debacle, getting Lewandowski to admit that he has lied several times to the public in his recounting of Trump’s attempts to use him, then a private citizen, to intimidate and threaten former AG Jeff Sessions to shut down the Mueller investigation.

But Berke did little to address the bigger problem – Lewandowski’s disrespect for the committee typified by this exchange where he accused Rep. Shirley Jackson Lee of “ranting”.

MS. Lee was forceful, but hardly ranting.

Congresswoman Speier has an idea, Chairman, stop “considering” and freaking do it!

Speier told Jake Tapper:

“JAKE TAPPER, CNN HOST: You were among those on the House Intelligence Committee that got to question Lewandowski back in April of 2018.Sources told CNN that he repeatedly cursed at lawmakers to make the point that he would not talk about issues he didn't find relevant. So I can't imagine you're surprised by his stonewalling today. What is the point of having a hearing with a hostile witness?

REP. JACKIE SPEIER (D-CA): Well, you could have a hearing with a hostile witness if you can extract from that individual important information.

He is refusing to answer. And so, when you refuse to answer, I think you have but one course of action. And that is by ensuing what would be calling inherit contempt and then start fining him.

And the only thing that talks around this administration is money. So if you start fining him, let's say, $5,000, $10,000, $15,000 a day, at some point, you are going to get him to comply.”

I won’t speak for the “American people”, as Republicans are wont to do, Chairman Nadler, but I think I can speak for your fellow Democrats when I say we are sick to despair of showing spinelessness to the aggression of Republican obstructionism.

Hold Lewandowski in contempt and lead him by his wallet back into that chair before your committee.

Borrow some courage from Rep. Speier if you must.
