Received this e-mail today from Mark Kelly’s (D. AZ) U.S. Senate campaign:
On Saturday, a gunman opened fire at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas where at least 22 people were killed and 24 more wounded.
Hours later, 9 people were shot and killed and 26 people were injured after a mass shooting outside a bar in Dayton, Ohio.
We have officially had more mass shootings than days of the year…a statistic that should shake us all to our cores.
We have the tools available to fix this problem. There’s a bill sitting on Mitch McConnell’s desk right now that would save lives.
Now we just need him to act.
The Senate needs members who are willing to look at the facts, not cower to the deep pockets of special interest groups like the gun lobby who fill their campaign accounts with donations.
The American people – Democrats, Independents and Republicans, as well – want sensible gun laws that will keep us safe while protecting the rights of law-abiding gun owners.
So if you are ready for some common-sense gun safety legislation that will save lives, we hope you will add your name and help us call on Mitch McConnell to act — we cannot wait.
Thank you for being an ally,
