Albuquerque is Now On Trump's Hit List

The Mangled Mango Mussolini has now set his sights on Albuquerque, New Mexico:

Trump: 35 agents coming to Albuquerque for Operation Legend

President Donald Trump and Attorney General William Barr announced that 35 federal agents and additional resources will be coming to Albuquerque as part of the expansion of Operation Legend in a handful of cities across the United States.

At a news conference in the White House on Wednesday, President Trump said the influx will be in cities where the leadership wants to “defund, defame or abolish” police.

“Under Operation Legend we will soon send fed law enforcement to other cities that need help,” Trump said. “Other cities need help, they need it badly. They should call, they should want it. They’re too proud or they’re too political to do that. One of them is Albuquerque, New Mexico.”

About a week ago, the state sued the New Mexico Civil Guard, a right-wing civilian militia, for violence and a shooting over a statue honoring a conquistador (photo of guard members being arrested above):

New Mexico has sued the New Mexico Civil Guard and 14 of its members in state court, claiming the militia group helped incite a shooting at a peaceful protest in June.

Protesters gathered in front of the Albuquerque Museum on June 15 to protest the sculpture La Jornada, which includes a statue of 16th century Spanish conquistador Juan de Oñate. Oñate, founder of the Spanish colony of New Mexico, was also responsible for the 1599 Acoma Massacre, a punitive expedition at Acoma Pueblo that killed around 500 Acoma men and 300 women and children. www.courthousenews.com/…

That could be one reason the city is on Trump’s (s)hit list. Another might be the sheriff of the county, who claims there is “extraordinary violence” in the city, and who is visiting the White House today:

Sheriff’s visit to Trump White House draws ire

Sheriff Gonzales is being slammed by several local officials ahead of his visit to the White House to meet with Trump. A news release from the BCSO said the meeting was to discuss the sheriff’s office “success combating Albuquerque’s crime crisis” as part of a joint operation.

But Sen. Heinrich blasted Gonzales, tying his visit to the Portland events. He called for Gonzales to resign, saying he doesn’t represent Bernalillo County, and needs to step aside to “make room for someone who will make maintaining the peace and promoting the safety and protection” of residents a top priority.

“Instead of collaborating with the Albuquerque Police Department, the Sheriff is inviting the President’s stormtroopers into Albuquerque,” Heinrich wrote in a statement.

And of course, the governor of New Mexico,  Michelle Lujan Grisham, is not only a Democrat, but is reportedly under consideration as Biden’s VP.

Trump is targeting major cities run by Democrats, in states run by Democrats: New York, Portland, Chicago, Philadelphia. Also Oakland, which isn’t all that major but has a large Black population. But Albuquerque?
