Received this e-mail just now from U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D. NY) in support of U.S. Senator Doug Jones’ (D. AL) re-election campaign:

Sen. Doug Jones (D. AL)

Alabama Senator Doug Jones officially has an opponent in his reelection race: Former football coach and Trump loyalist Tommy Tuberville.

This is very, very good news for Doug Jones, and for Democrats’ odds of taking back the Senate. In a minute, I’m going to explain why. But first, I need you to rush a donation to support Doug’s campaign and flip the Senate.

The latest polling has Doug TIED with Tuberville—46%-46%. Doug has a clear path to victory, and it’s widening every day.

  • In the midst of a global pandemic (and an election that will be defined by healthcare), Tuberville is woefully unprepared for the job. He's a former football coach who admitted that he “wouldn’t have a clue” about how to take on the coronavirus pandemic.

  • Karl Rove’s group One Nation and the Club for Growth are clearly paying attention, and know Doug’s in a tight race: They have $3.5 million booked in TV spending starting TODAY to attack Doug.

You and I both know this is going to be the toughest seat for Democrats to defend this year. But it’s absolutely a race we can win—and it’s worth your investment.

Please, rush a donation to Doug’s campaign today. I promised Doug this team would send him $15,000 by midnight to win this seat and flip the Senate.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
