Buzzfeed reports Democratic congressman Ben McAdams of Utah and Republican Mario Diaz-Balart of Florida have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Please read my statement on contracting #COVID19. I have self-quarantined since first having symptoms and consulted with my doctor. #utpol

Diaz-Balart, a 58-year-old Republican from Florida, said he began experiencing symptoms on Saturday “including a fever and headache,” according to a statement from his office. He was informed that he tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, on Wednesday.

Other members of congress who have self-quarantined but have not announced that they tested positive for COVID-19 include Julia Brownley and Jason Crow, both Democrats. Republicans who have self-quarantined but have not announced a positive test include Senators Ted Cruz, Cory Gardner, and Lindsay Graham. Graham’s test later came back negative.

Republican US House members Matt Gaetz and Doug Collins have also self-quarantined.

Many members of the political class seem likely to come in contact with infected individuals.
