Republicans Rolled the Dice and Crapped Out

Browse By

Using a description from Wikipedia, admittedly a dubious source, after the roll of a pair of dice and the chance presentation of a single pip on each die, placed together they resemble a snake’s eyes. This sort of roll also draws a comparison with the discomfiting reputation of the snake due to its’ “treachery and betrayal.”  On any given day Republicans roll the dice in a game of chance and hope they do not crap out.  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has conversely been accused of playing a game of chicken with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

What Pelosi’s delays are actually doing, in withholding the impeachment documents from the Senate, is allowing the Republicans, to borrow and paraphrase, to bend their universe toward the arc of justice and morality. In just the past few weeks leaked emails have strongly suggested that the President was much more than peripherally involved in Ukrainian extortion, as the GOP claims, he orchestrated it. Newly released information showing that redacted emails from Mr. Trump’s administration showed that he engaged in ongoing pressure. Mike Duffey, the associate director for national security programs at the Office of Budget Management it was revealed sent an email time-stamped at 11:04 am ( July 25th)  exactly 91 minutes following the now infamous, “ do us a favor though”  Trump/Zelensky phone call.  Duffey recognized immediately the folly, and possible illegality of Trump’s order when he wrote, “Based on guidance I have received and in light of the administration’s plan to review assistance to Ukraine, including the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, please hold off on any additional DoD obligations of these funds, pending direction from that process.” Mr. Duffey included in his email, “Given the sensitive nature of the request, I appreciate your keeping that information closely held to those who need to know to execute direction.”

If you have followed the progression of events ‘that process’ is obviously President Trump and Acting WH Chief of Staff  Mick Mulvaney who told the world to, get over it.”  This is an easy case for even the most die-hard Trump supporters, give me what I want, or I will let your neighbor blow your house up. The GOP spent years, in hindsight, correctly belittling Barack Obama’s judgment for making light of Mitt Romney in the 2012 campaign when Romney said that Russia was  the number one “geopolitical threat.”

American politicians have formed a circle, loaded its political weapons and is firing at will.  My Democratic bias may be showing but at least the Democrats are trying to execute an about-face and fire at the enemy and not each other. Mr. Trump has acquiesced to the North Koreans who blatantly and publicly demeaned the American President by promising a Christmas present in the form of more nuclear aggression.  The Saudis are going to sacrifice the lives of five of its compatriots to aid in the concealment of who was responsible for the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who by all indications was ordered by its’ ruler Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, who enlisted Mr. Trump as part of the cover-up.  World leaders are now publicly laughing out loud and in public at the U.S. Commander-in-Chief.  Put your money on the table American majority and roll a seven in November, the Republicans have crapped out.

Vote in 2020 for Change.
