Nicolle Wallace: 'It's gonna take a dead Russian hooker' for Republicans to wake up

So if the impeachment hearings have proved anything, it’s that congressional Republicans — after endless (and fruitless) Benghazi and email server investigations — don’t really care about official misconduct after all. Kind of like the deficit only mattered when a Democrat was in the White House. Now high crimes and misdemeanors might as well be ice cream and Laffy Taffy.

(They also apparently don’t care about national security, despite the years-long harassment of Hillary Clinton. How many of them even blinked when David Holmes told his story about Trump bellowing like a rutting Hippo over an unsecured cellphone while the recipient of the call sat in a public restaurant?)

Well, some in the media have noticed this rank hypocrisy:

Wallace went on to say: “They don’t care about anything. And now they also don’t care about foreign interference in domestic elections. So here’s the moment I’m waiting for. What’s going to happen when it happens to them? When the foreign intervention helps the Democrat and not the Republican?”

Yeah, that’s a fair question. But, Nicolle, the fact that you’re even asking it proves you haven’t paid close attention to anything for the past 10 years. As soon as a Democrat does it, it will be an outrage the likes of which you’ve never seen before. Republicans have very selective and very short memories.

If the next Democratic president gets an orange sherbet smudge on her or his face, the “look, the president is orange” jokes will fly until kingdom come at Fox News HQ.

Because, as you noted, they don’t care about anything — least of all consistency.

Does Trump make you want to delete your brain? Of course he does! But don’t do it until you’ve read Dear Fcking Lunatic: 101 Obscenely Rude Letters to Donald Trump and its breathlessly awaited sequel Dear Fcking Moron: 101 More Letters to Donald Trump by Aldous J. Pennyfarthing. Reviewers have called these books “hysterically funny,” “cathartic,” and “laugh-out-loud” diversions from our temporary hell on Earth. Don’t delay. Click those links, yo!
