First Avenue — a legendary Minneapolis club where part of Prince’s 1984 film, “Purple Rain,” was shot — has announced it will donate all of its Thursday profits to Planned Parenthood.

Across the street on Thursday at the Target Center, Donald Trump will host one of his infamous Nuremberg rallies.

In a news release, First Avenue CEO Dayna Frank said the following:

“While we are not a political organization, First Avenue has hosted candidates and events across the political spectrum and supports diversity of thought. However, the actions and policies of this administration are in direct conflict to our core values. First Avenue believes in radical inclusivity; every person needs to be treated with dignity, respect and professionalism.

“Our mission statement explicitly outlines First Avenue’s goal of fostering a unique, diverse, and innovative cultural environment. … We’re happy to support an organization dedicated to equal access to healthcare for all.”

Built on the site of an old Greyhound bus station, the club is a Twin Cities icon — so much so that the Minnesota Historical Society is currently hosting an exhibit commemorating the club’s 50th anniversary.

Meanwhile, Trump has been the worst thing to happen to family planning since late-night Cinemax and Boone’s Farm. His administration has done everything it can to undermine the organization in order to promote STD outbreaks easily preventable abortions cervical cancer fundie Christians’ Pollyanna fantasies about how the world works.

Maybe First Avenue’s announcement will start a trend, convincing even more businesses in the vicinity of Trump’s Hitler doof rallies to get onboard.
