In the aftermath of last week, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s announcement of a formal impeachment inquiry and growing evidence that Donald Trump defied the Constitution and asked multiple foreign leaders for dirt on his opponents, you’d think Republicans like Lindsey Graham would finally put country over party. Well, you’d be wrong.

Recent polls show that even in South Carolina, Lindsey Graham is taking a serious hit and this is now a SINGLE DIGIT RACE between him and DFA-endorsed Democrat Jamie Harrison!

Graham has continued to plow forward with adamant support of Trump, no matter what evidence points to this reckless president’s wrongdoing (I mean, Trump’s doing it right in front of us as we speak). His M.O. right now is to protect the Republican president at all costs, even if it’s detrimental to our democracy.

But Graham didn’t always feel that way. His Democratic opponent Jaime Harrison had a little flashback for him: a video of an impassioned Graham explaining the importance of impeachment in 1999. Here, in Graham’s own words, is what it’s all about:

“What’s a high crime? It’s just when you start using your office and you’re acting in a way that hurts people. You don’t even have to be convicted of a crime to lose your job in this constitutional republic. If this body determines that your conduct as a public official is clearly out of bounds in your role. Impeachment is not about punishment. Impeachment is about cleansing the office.”

Sound like anyone? We couldn’t agree more with Graham’s original take on impeachment. But as it turns out, 24 years in Washington, D.C. can really change a person’s priorities, and the values he once held have clearly been replaced by right-wing loyalty. In short, Graham is a hypocrite.

That’s why it’s about time we send Graham packing and elect a new, Democratic leader to truly represent the people of South Carolina in the U.S. Senate: Jaime Harrison.

Right now, a new poll shows Jaime just 7 points away from Graham, making this a single-digit race. Help Jaime build the resources it’ll take to keep up the momentum and replace Graham at the ballot box in 2020: make a contribution of $5 or more now.

Let’s continue to hold Graham’s feet to the fire and build the support Jaime needs to win.

Thanks,
