Jim Garaghty Is Not Our Friend, But He May Have Some Points About Biden = Hillary.

Yes, It’s Jim Geraghty and the National Review, so why the hell should we EVER pay any attention to either?  Neither is a friend of Democrats.  In fact, both would probably love to hand Democrats an anchor for 2020.  However, he writes about some interesting parallels or similiarities between Hillary Clinton’s run in 2016 and Joe Biden’s current campaign for the nomination.  NOTE:  I do not buy into every point he raises.  In fact, a couple are pure Republican BS.

Think about all of the factors that contributed to Hillary Clinton’s defeat in 2016. She was a figure who had been around a long time, among the best-known names in the party establishment. As a senator, she worked closely with her home state’s financial industry, leaving some liberal grassroots concluding she was a corporatist who was far too comfortable with big business.

Yes, and I think that of most establishment Democrats, especially centrists.

Speaking of establishment Democrats:

Now here comes Joe Biden. . . another figure who had been around a long time, among the best-known names in the party establishment. As a senator, he worked closely with his home state’s financial industry, leaving some liberal grassroots concluding he was a corporatist who was far too comfortable with big business

Oh yeah, both Hillary and Biden voted for that Bankruptcy “Reform” Bill.  The bill that made it harder for people like myself to declare bankruptcy.  The one that the banks and credit card companies pushed.  And correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t Biden’s constituents call him the Senator from MBNA?

Anyway, there is the uncanny similarity between the two on crime and race:

More progressive figures challenged her in the primary, and activists on the Left hit her hard for her punitive stances on crime in the 1990s, including describing young gang members as “super-predators.” She attempted to shore up her support among African Americans by emphasizing her close work with Barack Obama.

….

More progressive figures are challenging him in the primary, and activists on the Left are hitting him hard for his punitive stances on crime in the 1990s, including his statement that his philosophy was to“lock the S.O.B.s up.’” He’s attempting to hold onto his support among African Americans by emphasizing his close work with Barack Obama.

Yes, even some black Democrats supported the crime bill.  Most Democrats at the time were big on convincing the voters that they were for law and order.  Republicans, despite their criminal and law breaking past with Nixon, Reagan, and George H.W. Bush, had this image of being the law and order party.

Now, to be fair to both, there is the BS about them having “shady” connections to foreign governments.  Yeah, he actually wrote those lies.  In an age of Trump.

And there is the usual ageism or failing health BS for Hillary and Biden.  Seems Republicans cannot get away from all the “Hillary has failing health!”lies.  This from a party that nominated and got elected a man who probably has some form of dementia.

But I don’t think that Biden or his campaign can dismiss how similar they are to the Clinton campaign of 2016.
