Pentagon looking to use military pay and pension funds for Trump's wall

Because Donald Trump loves the vets so, so much.

The AP:

The Pentagon is planning to tap $1 billion in leftover funds from military pay and pension accounts to help President Donald Trump pay for his long-sought border wall, a top Senate Democrat said Thursday.

Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., told The Associated Press, “It’s coming out of military pay and pensions. $1 billion. That’s the plan.”

Durbin said the funds are available because Army recruitment is down and a voluntary early military retirement program is being underutilized.

Hmm. Here’s a thought. Maybe divert that $1 billion to, uh, veterans? Republicans love to give money away to their wealthy donors. Couldn’t they just as easily send funds earmarked for military personnel to, say, homeless vets?

Of course they could, but that wouldn’t keep any immigrants out of the country, now would it?

Then Durbin said something really funny:

Durbin said, “Imagine the Democrats making that proposal — that for whatever our project is, we’re going to cut military pay and pensions.”

Imagine it? We live it every day! No matter what Republicans do to undermine military personnel and veterans, and no matter what Democrats do to help them, we get slimed with the spittle and phlegm of fake patriotism.

Hell, I’m still waiting for someone from the Republican Party to apologize for all the crap I took over my opposition to the Iraq war. I assume that will come right around the time the GOP points out its own hypocrisy for relentlessly hammering Barack Obama over the national debt.
