America 2018: GOP considers if rape is really a deal-breaker; Don Jr. mocks victim

I’m seething a little bit here, because I just listened to Karl Rove on Fox “News” smear the victim. Fox has been constantly reminding people that Brett Kavanuagh’s victim, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, is a registered Democrat. Breitbart jumped in and dug up some dirt on her: she had the audacity to oppose Trump’s child cages, and one time, she wore a pink hat.

Did you know she was from California?  (Good job, RedState.) And did you know her students complained about her and gave her bad reviews? Wow! (That one was shared by Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham and Andrew Klavan.) Well, I guess she deserved it then…

Oh, wait, that was a different professor with the same name? Whoops. Who knew that was even possible?

And in the case of Donald Trump Jr., he decided the attempted rape by Kavanaugh was just too funny to pass up:

x

Hilarious, Junior.

Just as funny as the ten other times Don Jr. made fun of sexual assault. Guess it runs in the family.

Then asshat Erick Erickson said this:

x

This is the same Erickson who fiercely defended pedophile Roy Moore. He wasn’t alone. Last year, rightwing “Christians” tried to argue that pedophilia was no big deal. (Jesus’ family did it, you know). Naturally, if sexually assaulting a prepubescent teen is believed to be okay, then a woman—a liberal woman at that-— well…

Let’s just say there’s plenty of nuggets of wisdom from cretins who are using arguments right from the mouths of GOP politicians to claim that rape is no big deal. It’s no wonder they’re circling the wagons. The GOP Senators are trying to figure out how to salvage Kavanaugh’s nomination, because although he may have violently attacked a woman, at least he can be counted on to take her rights away as well.

Let’s be clear. This isn’t some sort of “liberal plot”—unlike our millions of phantom voters, our fake Puerto Rican hurricane or that time we tricked Donald into collaborating with Russia. It actually happened. How do I know? Well, I’m about the same age as Kavanaugh and his scumbag friend, Mark Judge. I have vivid recollections of my time in high school. If someone asked me if I ever saw someone trying to rape someone back then, you can bet my answer wouldn’t be ”errr… I don’t remember.”

Secondly, only about 2% of all rape and related sex charges are determined to be false, the exact same percentage as for other felonies. According a Stanford University study:

So while [false accusations] do happen, and they are very problematic when they do, people claim that allegations are false far more frequently than they are and far more frequently than for other crimes.  Put another way, we are much more likely to disbelieve a woman if she says she was raped than if she says she was robbed, but for no good reason.

Dr. Ford didn’t report it to police, likely because of exactly what is happening right now: She knew every detail of her life will be scrutinized, she will be shamed, and she will be labeled as a manipulating, California-based liberal plant. The fact that she went to the hospital after the crime, and has a long, documented trail for several years—before anyone even heard of Kavanaugh—is irrelevant. She is the predator, and he will become the victim.

Every day is opposite day in Trump’s GOP world.

Every day I’m reminded of what I wouldn’t be going through if Hillary was president. Yesterday it was hurricane denialism. Today, we are actually arguing that a SCOTUS nominee shouldn’t try to rape someone.  Is it too much to ask the GOP for a nominee who isn’t prone to sexual assault?

For crying out loud, isn’t the one in the White House enough for you?
