WATCH: Paul Ryan Sent Seth Meyers A Whiny Email So He Answered It On His Show

House Speaker Paul Ryan is catching some serious heat after promising for eight years that Republicans would provide a viable alternative to Obamacare then presented Americans with a trillion dollar tax cut for the wealthy while expecting middle class and lower income people to pay for it with their health care. It took Republicans eight years to come up with something that offers nothing to hard working Americans while giving no thought to those with pre-existing conditions.

So, Ryan’s office wrote a sad, whiny email to Seth Meyers over his portrayal of Trumpcare. The late-night host decided to answer the email on his show.

“Unlike Republicans and their healthcare bill, we actually read the whole email,” Meyers on Monday’s “Late Night,” referring to several members of Congress who admitted that they hadn’t read the AHCA in full.

“This is great because we genuinely appreciate the engagement and would love to have Speaker Ryan on the show,” he continued. “Suffice to say, we don’t agree with the email and we thought it’d be helpful if we took a second to respond to some of their claims point by point.”

Meyers did just that and discussed a few of his comments that Ryan’s office took issue with. One of those was that the bill was rushed through and represents a sizable tax break for the wealthy (see above) and its allowance for states to waive protections for those with preexisting conditions. In addition, the bill is terrible for older Americans.

“The bottom line is this,” Meyers said. “Republicans rushed this bill through for ideological reasons, despite the fact that every analysis showed that it would cut taxes for the wealthy, raise premiums for the older, sicker people, and take millions off insurance. If they really wanted to solve our healthcare problems, they could start by looking for examples from other countries.”

Meyers then zinged amateur president Donald Trump who met with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull recently and said, “You have better healthcare than we do.”

That drives Meyer’s point home since Australia has universal single-payer healthcare, which Meyers said, “insures everyone for a fraction of the cost.”

We’re pretty sure Ryan didn’t think his disapproving email would be answered on the air. We’re also sure that the Republican alternative to Obamacare should be called out at every turn because it’s simply a gift to the wealthy.
