Trump Lies About Media Shutting Off Cameras During His Speech – Media Promptly Humiliates Him

At yet another campaign-style rally last night, this time in Phoenix, Trump fell back into his old habits of saying absolutely nothing and pretending everyone loves him for it. Of course, that includes the “crooked media,” and their “deceptions.” He said:

It’s time to expose the crooked media deceptions, and to challenge the media for their role in fomenting divisions and yes, by the way – and yes, by the way, they are trying to take away our history and our heritage.”

But then, in what we presume was an effort to prove the media is out to get him rather than merely reporting the truth about him, he made a truly bizarre claim that anyone with functioning eyes could see was a lie:

Look back there: the live red lights, they’re turning those suckers off fast. They’re turning those lights off fast. Like CNN. CNN does not want its falling viewership to watch what I’m saying tonight.”

The Hill said:

However no major news outlet’s coverage of the rally stopped and no livestream of the president’s speech appeared to be cut off, as Trump suggested.”

But The Hill was being nice. Politico went a little more in-depth when they pointed out that CNN was actually turning their cameras on, and then they quoted NBC’s Katy Tur, who reportedly said:

CNN’s camera is on. The reporter is doing a live shot right now. Trump is lying right now.”

Dan Diamond, who writes Politico Pulse, also tweeted:

Dianne Gallagher, a national correspondent for CNN, said:

CNN’s Brian Stelter tweeted:

CNN itself said:

Other members of the press joined in as well:

What a thing to lie about. This would be hilarious if it wasn’t so sad. Apparently, his supporters were eating it up, too, which is even sadder.
