Trump Furiously Responds To Bannon Accusations; This Is An All-Out War

After Wednesday’s big reveal in the Guardian of excerpts from author Michael Wolff’s new book “,” the internet lived up to the title of the book — it was ablaze with stories about Wolff’s interview with noted white supremacist Steve Bannon, who guided Trump’s campaign through the last three months leading up to the election and stayed on as Trump’s right-hand man until just a few months ago.

Bannon in the tell-all interview. In addition to calling the “secret meeting” held by Donald Trump Junior and Jared Kushner with Kremlin lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya “treasonous” and “unpatriotic,” he went on to claim that “They’re going to crack Don Junior like an egg on national TV,” referring of course to Robert Mueller’s special counsel investigation.

Once the excerpts became public, however, it was only a matter of time before Trump himself got a look at them, and as you might predict, he went haywire. He sent out a 266-word statement almost immediately in an attempt to rewrite history, perhaps project a little of what he’s feeling himself onto his former top adviser.

From the statement:

Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my Presidency. When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind.”

Trump went on to fault Bannon with the Republican loss of Alabama’s Senate seat, saying that Steve was “learning that winning isn’t as easy as I make it look.” That’s supremely ironic, considering he lost the popular vote in November 2016, and that essentially every candidate he’s “blessed” with an endorsement since then has lost their respective races as well.

Here’s the statement in its entirety:

Some on the right, including alt-Right white nationalist Jack Posobiec, who gained fame by pretending to be a liberal at a Trump rally and holding a handmade sign that said “Rape Melania” on it, have insisted that the author of the book took quotes out of context and that Bannon’s seeming reversal of loyalty is purely speculation.

Mike Cernovich, another alt-Right garbage pile who recently completed the ultimate “self-own” by holding an “AMA” during which he was torn to shreds by his audience, simply refused to believe that the quotes were real:

But Bannon’s own publication, Breitbart, was running headlines that confirmed the stories were true — something they certainly wouldn’t do if Bannon had been taken out of context.

Expect plenty more from Donald Trump on this situation — he is most assuredly beside himself at this betrayal.
