Trump Dismantles Enviromental Protections; Democrats Fight Back

President Trump has signed an executive order that wishes to boost U.S. energy independence by rolling back federal government regulations and halting the enforcement of climate regulations. The new order will place employment before addressing and combating climate change.

President Trump defending his actions by stating:

My action today is latest in steps to grow American jobs,…..and ending the theft of prosperity.”

The Order will initiate a review of the Clean Power Plan and will begin the removal of “all regulations, all rules, all policies … that serve as obstacles and impediments to American energy “.

The order specifically targets at least six Executive Orders by Obama designed to combat climate change and regulating carbon emission. There are also talks from the Trump Administration to renegotiate the Paris Agreement of Climate change or withdraw altogether.

CNN reports that a White House official who has been briefed on the plan stated that the administration believes that they can “serve the environment and increase energy independence at the same time.”

This, of course is if the EPA can do its jobs which are to safeguard clean air and clean water. I do not think Trump sees the irony in the situation.

The Executive Order brought Democratic Senators from Western states to pen a letter to President Trump urging him to drop his order that will roll back policies enacted to curb greenhouse gas emissions.

The Democratic Senators are: Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.), Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Tom Udall (D-N.M.) and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.).

The letter urges President Trump to see the growing clean energy industry as it has the highest growing sources of new jobs and reminding him that:

Worldwide clean energy investment totaled more than $280 billion last year and is expected to grow to more than $7.8 trillion in 2040.

The letter in its entirety can be seen below:

Trump’s belief that climate change is a plot by China and liberals to curtail economic growth and business profits ensures that this is the first shot toward the war on climate change.

Unfortunately, it is against Mother Earth.
