Trump Attacks Witness In Effort To Intimidate Her Hours Before She Testifies On Russia Scandal

Intimidating a witness is illegal.

Donald Trump is scared shitless right now as the investigation of his deep ties to Russia continues in Congress.

On Monday morning, Trump launched an attack against former acting Attorney General Sally Yates, whom he cowardly fired in January after she refused to defend his unconstitutional executive order on immigration in court.

“At present, I am not convinced that the defense of the executive order is consistent with these responsibilities of the Department of Justice, nor am I convinced that the executive order is lawful,” Yates wrote.

Yates had also previously warned Trump that Michael Flynn’s connection with Russia made him vulnerable to blackmail.

As we all know, Trump dismissed Yates but Flynn would remain as national security adviser until the Russia scandal caught up to him and he was forced to resign despite Trump continuing to publicly support him.

Hours before Yates is to testify in Congress, Trump attacked her on Twitter by accusing her of leaking information to the media. He also defended Michael Flynn by blaming President Obama.

The first point to make here is that Flynn kept his Russian ties quiet and the extent of them was unknown when the Obama Administration vetted him. Obama, however, did fire Flynn later on. But when Trump made Flynn his national security adviser, the extent of his Russian ties were becoming more clear. Trump hired him anyway despite knowing of Flynn’s ties to Russia. Clearly, Flynn’s closeness with Putin and other Russian officials appealed to Trump.

Second, attacking Yates hours before she is set to testify is the definition of intimidation. And because Yates is a federal witness, Trump is committing felony witness intimidation, which is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

It should also be pointed out that Trump misspelled “Counsel” is his original post before deleting it and posting an edited version.

Trump is an embarrassment and he should be prosecuted for witness intimidation and collusion with Russia.
