Trumpcare was the first test of Trump’s self-proclaimed knowledge of the system and he failed MISERABLY!
On Monday night, Seth Meyers returned to his show Late Night armed to the teeth with ammunition against Trump, so it was not at all surprising when he chose Trump’s failure to pass his healthcare bill as the subject of his popular segment, A Closer Look.
Pointing out Trump’s recent back-peddling and claims that repealing and replacing the ACA was not even his idea in the first place, nor was it his promise to get it done on “Day 1,” Meyers shows a clip of him saying exactly that! He then shows numerous clips of Trump during his campaign boasting about his supposed knowledge of the system, with one of Trump saying, “No one knows the system better than me!”, and another where he claims that “if you can’t make a deal with a politician, you’re not very good.”
Well, Trump is proving that he’s the one who’s “not very good,” because for all of his bluster and promises — he couldn’t get it done, and it appears that Paul Ryan is being set up to take the fall, as Meyers reminds us when referring to Trump’s recent Twitter advertisement for Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro’s show:
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 25, 2017
Right after Trump’s plug for her show, Pirro then went on the air and asked for Ryan’s resignation. Coincidence? I think not, and neither does anyone else, including Seth Meyers. After showing the clip of Pirro opening her show, Seth says:
Not only is she saying what Trump wants to hear, she’s saying it the way Trump wants to hear it — Slow and with a thick New York accent.”
