I have a website called "fidlerten Place (fidlerten.com) which is a political blog and I also am a new Yahoo contributor. I'm a gay man so I do also write blogs that concern gay people.
I'm still new to blogging but I hope to establish a well-running website eventually.
The supporters of Barack Obama and most members of the Democratic Party want our president to lay Mitt Romney out — not literally speaking of course. Most of us I am sure agree that his last performance was a little lackadaisical, even us die-hard Obama fans thought so, which I am.
I would simply like to see this debate be more about character, so viewers can understand what really is behind that smile and that look of concern on Romney’s face. It is a shame that so many voters seem not to understand who Mitt Romney really is, but this debate will give President Obama a chance to do just that.
As far as the president’s character, we all have witnessed that over the last four years and we all can make our own assessment about that at the polls. Mitt Romney on the other hand, people are just now really getting to know him and they have only seen what was well prepared beforehand. Now it is time to reveal the real Mitt Romney.
The debate tonight, which will be held at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, puts a heavy burden on Barack Obama to have a clearly successful night. As far as the town hall style meeting where selected audience members can ask questions, I know president Obama is comfortable with people by watching him out on the campaign trail. I also know he is comfortable being asked questions impromptu
Mitt Romney on the other hand, may show a different Romney when asked questions that was not planned. I am certain his team has tried to come up with all the various questions he might be asked and what he is to say, and that is what might trip him up also.
It is easy to assume I suppose that the average American is easily persuaded to believe something, even if it is not true. Yet when a question is asked that everyone wants to hear the answer to, and the answer comes out something else — something maybe rehearse instead — it can leave a bad impression.
Mitt Romney needs to be asked the tough questions and he needs to give the right answers, and those answers had better seem genuine or listeners will know. I expect Obama to be prepared to put Romney on the spot. Independents and undecided voters need to see the conservative Mitt Romney that was displayed during the Republican primaries.
They need to see the flip-flopping Mitt Romney and the disdainful Mitt Romney that he displayed on a video of a certain millionaire fund-raiser, which is now so well known to the public. In the video, he denigrates 47 percent of Americans as believing they were entitled to things like health care, food and housing.
In the video, Mitt Romney said there are 47 percent of Americans who will vote for Obama no matter what. He is talking about union workers, college students, women, gay people, and even I – we are all just lazy bums to Mitt Romney.
President Obama, put on those virtual boxing gloves and box Mitt Romney into a virtual corner. Talk about what he had to say about abortion during the Republican primary debates. Remind voters it was Mitt Romney who said, “Let Detroit go bankrupt” in a piece he wrote for the New York Times. Then of course remind them of the current state of the auto industry and all the many jobs it saved, in not only that industry but also all those supported by it, and that it was you who passed the bailout that saved the auto industry, not Romney.
I know you will do fine Mr. President, because I believe in you, I have seen your veracity and your character has always been outstanding to me. You also are a fighter and always for the right causes, your reelection being one of them. So come out fighting tonight Barack and pull that mask off Romney’s head, that way we can all get a good look at who he really is.
