Republicans Reject Measure Barring Members Of Congress From Colluding With Foreign Governments

Texas Republicans literally approve of members of Congress working against the United States with hostile foreign governments.

On Thursday, Republicans passed a resolution calling for a convention of states to amend the United States Constitution. To form such a convention, 34 states would have to pass the same resolution.

This has been a conservative wet dream for decades now because a convention would give them the power to amend the Constitution in any way they want. They could throw out the Bill of Rights, strike down amendments, and strangle federal power to the point where America can no longer function.

They could then make their entire agenda the law of the land.

According to the Washington Post,

There has not been a constitutional convention since the first one, and for good reason. As constitutional experts from the late Chief Justice Warren Burger to Justice Antonin Scalia to Harvard Law School Professor Laurence Tribe have warned, a constitutional convention would place the nation in uncharted territory, with very serious risks for our political system. Convening a convention, as Tribe put it, would be “putting the whole Constitution up for grabs.” And although I don’t often agree with Scalia, he hit the nail on the head when he said recently: “I certainly would not want a constitutional convention. Whoa! Who knows what would come out of it?”

But Texas Republicans passed Senate Joint Resolution 2 anyway, becoming the 11th state to call for a convention.

And in doing so, they also approved of lawmakers committing treason against our country.

Democratic state Rep. Chris Turner introduced an amendment that would require the removal of members of Congress who collude with foreign governments. One would think every lawmaker in the country would support such a proposal. But not Republicans.

They tabled the amendment, thus giving members of Congress their blessing to collude with foreign nations against the United States. And considering that Donald Trump and many members of his administration and supporters in Congress have been caught colluding with Russia, it’s clear why Republicans would not want such a law on the books. Because they would be the ones getting booted out of office.

“Our country has been rocked by revelations of foreign governments interfering in our national elections, and many questions remain about whether or not officials with the Trump organization colluded with Vladimir Putin and the Russian government,” Turner said on the House floor. “We have an obligation to make sure our elections are protected from outside influences.”

This proposal should have easily passed. The only reason it didn’t is because Republicans are despicable traitors who have no problem selling America out if it means more power for themselves.
