Part time book-keeping/office admin assistant or any type of assistants job in Manhattan pref, thanks.
Terrible thing being out of work - many people want to work and need to work - it's disgusting that there is no safety net for regular folk even no "work for pay" net. Work should be a priority for all Americans and legal residents but it is not - no one really cares - give people a chance to work and 99% will take it. Only people who have never been looking for work when they need it would think differently. Never getting a reply to applications, having to go through ridiculous on line applications that can take one or two hours to complete, I know computers are now filtering applications and a disease that society now has is one of not taking responsibility of not bothering to reply to applications, it's become a very automated process, I will keep trying of course and staying focused is necessary but it really shouldn't be almost impossible to get a job in the best country in the world.
My last full time gig was 2 days in September. I build web sites; how hard should it be to find that? I'm averaging 6 applications a week, even more emails, and about as many phone calls. Yes, I finally filed for unemployment, but that barely covers my rent. I'm told my rate is on the low end of average, but I am competing with off-shore resources that get a third or less of that.
Filing for government help is worse than job applications.
There are resources on the net that can help you decide if your resume needs work. You need a good resume to get to the top of the stack. And given what you are looking for, footwork may be better than fingerwork.

Peter,
it would be great if you can post a video comment about your job search. Would like to give people a sence of what it's like looking for a job.
