Melania Trump’s Immigration Lawyer Blasts Trump’s Move On DACA

First lady Melania Trump’s own lawyer, who once vouched for her her immigration status, isn’t too keen with the former reality show star’s decision to punish 800,000 young people who came to the U.S. as children, and subject them to deportation. Trump’s administration announced on Tuesday that it will upend the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, also known as DACA.

Michael Wildes said he is “prayerful” that former President Barack Obama’s DACA immigration program won’t be dismantled by the Trump administration and Congress and added that he works to help DACA beneficiaries, whom he referred to as “good souls,” according to Newsweek.

Attorney general Jeff Sessions announced on Tuesday that the DACA program would be shuttered and left it up to Congress to make that happen. Similarly, after the announcement, Trump tweeted, “Congress, get ready to do your job – DACA!”

Newsweek reports:

Wildes has had a personal connection to immigration reform and DACA: His father, Leon Wildes, planted the seeds of DACA when he represented the musician John Lennon in his deportation trial and clarified the meaning of deferred action in a court of law. Michael Wildes has voiced his support for DACA and now works with many of the program’s recipients—people who, he says, are everything from Marine veterans to Harvard graduates. During a phone interview with Newsweek, Wildes on Tuesday said, “I believe the president has great heart, and I’ve represented his family and businesses for many years now.

“He appreciates foreign talent, and children. And the golden doors of America should be open to these good souls,” he said.

Wildes said that those applying for the DACA program make themselves “visible to the government,” and suggested that they get in touch with an experienced immigration lawyer.

In January, Trump told ABC News, “I do have a big heart. We’re going to take care of everybody.” He said recently that DREAMers should “rest easy” because his administration won’t take action against them.

Following his unpopular decision, Trump said, “I have a great heart for the folks we’re talking about. A great love for them.” The unpopular ‘president’ said that of the very people he is subjecting to deportation.

Wildes said he is hopeful with the fate of DACA in the hands of Congress. “We appreciate as lawyers in the field that the president is going to pivot this to Congress,” he said. “That’s where this belongs.”

“The question is whether or not the deafening silence in Washington will be broken,” he added. Sure, that’s the same Congress who couldn’t find a viable replacement for Obamacare in 6 months, but he thinks those same people can find a way to replace DACA in two months. Sounds legit.

TL;DR: Wildes is saying that Trump is a d*ck.
