McConnell Was Just Asked About Today’s Special Prosecutor News. His Response Is Telling

Upon hearing the news that former FBI Director Robert Mueller has been appointed by the Department of Justice to investigate the Russia scandal, reporters sought a comment from top government officials on both sides of the aisle.

Mueller’s appointment was hailed as good news by Democrats and Republicans alike, but when CBS News’ Alan He asked Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for his reaction, his answer was telling:

McConnell, who has the call for a special prosecutor in the Russia probe, does not even try to mask his frustration with today’s developments. For its own part, the Trump administration has made a less-than-subtle attempt thus far to install loyalists and those who have been defiant. The President did not even find out about Mueller’s appointment until only the news went public.

McConnell, who rose to notoriety as the result of his agenda with President Barack Obama, clearly knows that Mueller’s appointment spells bad news for Trump. While Paul Ryan and other top Republicans have released statements welcoming Mueller – regardless of whether those statements were disingenuous or not – McConnell does not even feign approval.

If the allegations regarding Russia’s meddling into our election were true, Mitch McConnell should appreciate a “” to lead the investigation into an attack on our democracy. But McConnell has shown – on more than one occasion – that he is nothing more than a partisan hack.
