Jimmy Carter on Sanders: ‘Can Y’all see why I voted for him?’

When you are a good man, people talk about you just like Senator Bernie Sanders.

Former President Jimmy Carter and Sen. Bernie met at a Carter Center and talked about working towards global peace, human rights and politics.

Bernie has cried about the low voter turnout rates in the United States and said it was a boon for conservative politicians.  The comments got Bernie light laughter.

“Can Y’all see why I voted for him?” Carter said as Sanders said.

The two men talked at length and discussed the current direction of America and the human rights challenges around the world.

It may surprise you to know that this discussion happened in 2015.  Carter added that he strongly believed that former secretary of state Hillary Clinton would get the nomination “because money dominates, and she has an inside track to the massive amounts that are going to pour into the Democratic Party side.”

Clinton got the nomination and went as far as winning the popular votes while President Donald Trump won the electorate voting that has become controversial.

Like Sanders, Carter has long railed against the influence of money in politics. He said in 2015 that the US was essentially no longer democratic in nature.

“Now it’s just an oligarchy with unlimited political bribery,” Carter said.
