Houston Reporter Lays The Smackdown On Trump For Attacking Media During Visit

Donald Trump just couldn’t resist attacking the media during his trip to flood-ravaged Houston, and now he’s getting his ass handed to him for it.

On Saturday, Trump took a do-over, or to use a golf term he’ll understand, a mulligan for his response to the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Trump’s first visit served as nothing more than a campaign rally. Trump did nothing but brag and he didn’t even meet with survivors or survey the damage on the ground.

So Trump took another shot at it and failed miserably within minutes.

While talking about the heroism and hard work of the Coast Guard, Trump interrupted himself and attacked the media.

“Think of it, almost 11,000 people by going into winds that the media would not go into,” Trump said. “They will not go into those winds, unless it’s a really good story,” Trump continued, pointing at the media who were present.

In fact, reporters became lifesavers as the hurricane and floods raged. We know this because these acts were caught on camera. CNN reporter Drew Griffin literally rescued a man who drove his vehicle into a ravine on live television.

Here’s the video via Twitter.

As we all know, CNN is one of Trump’s favorite targets. Yet, a CNN reporter did something that Trump has never done- risk his own life to save another.

Well, Trump’s attack crossed a line and Houston media executive Bill Bishop of KHOU-TV on Twitter.

Indeed, while Trump merely watched the devastation on television, reporters were risking their lives bringing that coverage to the nation while saving people at the same time.

Trump responded slowly to the disaster and did not even bother visiting the disaster zone. He also pledged $1 million to help victims but hasn’t actually donated a single penny yet. He may not do so at all.

Make no mistake, Trump couldn’t even get this second visit right. That’s because he has no empathy or sympathy and sees every camera as an opportunity to attack his critics no matter what the situation is.

This was definitely not the time and place for petty attacks, but he did it anyway and that may be the final straw for even his most ardent supporters in the media.
