The Republican Party should be taking a huge victory lap right now. They control the entire federal government, many governorships, and many state legislatures. They have free reign to do as they please, no matter what those on the left think of their actions. There’s just one problem, though: The party is too fractured under this incredibly dysfunctional, scandal- ridden, and incompetent Trump White House to do anything that all. The entire nation and world saw that as their big healthcare bill went down in flames before it even made it to the House floor for a vote. It was a major and humiliating defeat for both Donald Trump and the GOP at large.
This failure seems to have fractured the party even further than it once was, and that was on fully display on Saturday. On Saturday morning, Trump did as he almost always does, and took to Twitter. This time, though it wasn’t to blast anyone, but to promote a Fox News show that was to air that night, hosted by Trump loyalist Judge Jeanine Pirro.

When Pirro took to the airwaves, the opening segment of the show was nothing more than a full-on rant against House Speaker Paul Ryan. Pirro said of Ryan:
Ryan needs to step down as Speaker of the House. The reason, he failed to deliver the votes on his healthcare bill, the one trumpeted to repeal and replace ObamaCare.”
“You come in with all your swagger and experience and sell them a bill of goods which ends up a complete and total failure and you allow our president, in his first 100 days, to come out of the box like that, based on what?”
Now, it is most curious that Trump would promote this show just hours before it aired, only to have its host go on an anti-Paul Ryan tirade. Further, it would not be the first time that Trump has used the media to communicate a message; in fact, this is a regular practice between Trump and his staff. So, in other words, it’s not much of a leap to say that this could be the first step in Team Trump’s plan to take down Paul Ryan for good. Pirro, however, insists that Trump had nothing to do with her rant, saying, “I have not spoken with the president about any of this.” She then went on to praise Trump, and relieve him of any blame for the healthcare bill’s humiliating defeat:
Folks, I want to be clear. This is not on President Trump.”
“No one expected a businessman to completely understand the nuances, the complicated ins and outs of Washington and its legislative process. How would he know on what individuals he could rely?”
“Ryan has hurt you going forward, and he’s got to go.”
So, in other words, Ryan is on Trump’s hit list. If they get him ousted, that will split the party in two for sure, since Ryan is like some kind of beloved Boy Scout to the establishment wing of the party.
Get your popcorn out for this one, folks. It ought to be interesting for sure.
