GOP Awkwardly Begs Americans For Birthday Wishes For Eric Trump, And It Did Not End Well

Nobody knows why Republicans do anything they do anymore. Is it because they honestly think they’re in touch with “real” America? Is it because they just don’t give sh*t anymore? Have the party of Lincoln and Eisenhower been reduced to a petty, groveling circle jerk of Trump ass-kissers?

Well, yeah. It’s all of those things.

So occasionally, America gets treated to something particularly funny that is so out of touch with what anyone wants or cares about that it leaves everyone scratching their heads. And that’s exactly what happened on Friday when the Republican National Committee, tweeting as the blue-checkmarked GOP itself, asked ordinary Americans to sign on to a virtual birthday card for Eric Trump, the bumbling middle child of the president.

The only way this makes sense is if someone who hates Eric Trump is in charge of that Twitter account.

It’s not like they can avoid seeing how spectacularly every single PR move they ever make backfires on them, from public polls to funding requests to screenshots of their idiotically-worded emails taken by people who subscribe entirely for ironic purposes.

But just in case this was the GOP just being dumbass, out-of-touch Republicans again, the internet helpfully reminded them that Eric Trump is a private citizen, not a prince:

But it was Chris, a “recovering Republican” (according to his Twitter bio), who really spoke for all of us:
