FL Sheriff Forced To Warn People Not To ‘Shoot At Irma’ After FB Group Urges Residents To Fire Away

With Hurricane Irma’s status back up to a category 4 and packing winds of 130 miles per hour while passing over the Florida Keys on Sunday morning with deadly force, one man had a nifty idea so he started a Facebook group which quickly garnered 46,000 supporters. Ryon Edwards, 22, suggested shooting guns at Hurricane Irma. According to Edwards, he started the event page out of “stress and boredom.”

While the state is currently experiencing the largest ever mass evacuation in U.S. history as Irma’s force and fury focuses on Florida, Edwards said, “A combination of stress and boredom made me start the event,” according to the .

They are planning to fire bullets into the storm or use flame throwers and lasers to show their resistance – although there’s no way to stop the path of a hurricane.

Edwards said he created the event to “lighten the mood” and added that “the response is a complete and total surprise to me.” “I never envisioned this event becoming some kind of crazy idea larger than myself,” he said. “It has become something a little out of my control.”

“Isn’t this just going to make the weather madder?” one commenter asked on his Facebook event page. “Are liberals allowed to throw pillows? (asking for a friend)” asked another.

Things got so out of hand that a Florida sheriff was forced to respond on Twitter. “To clarify, DO NOT shoot weapons @ #Irma. You won’t make it turn around & it will have very dangerous side effects,” the Pasco County Sheriff tweeted.

Just a few minutes ago, Edwards , “Well guys, it’s here. The moment we’ve been waiting for. It was cool to see the response this got from facebook.”

“On another note, I’ve learned that about 50% of the world could not understand sarcasm to save their lives,” he added. “Carry on.”

IDK, but maybe if young Mr. Edwards had said that from the beginning, things wouldn’t have gotten so out of control.
