FEMA Admits To Ignoring Mayor Of San Juan’s Pleas, So She’s Begging For Help On Twitter

The chief of the Federal Emergency Management Agency said on Sunday that any criticism of relief efforts in Puerto Rico by the mayor of San Juan has been “filtered out.” In an interview on ABC’s “This Week,” FEMA administrator Brock Long said, “We filtered out the mayor a long time ago.”

San Juan’s Mayor Carmen Cruz said she sees “no hope [on] the horizon” for Puerto Rico at this point so she took to Twitter to seek help.

“What you do when devastation hits you and there is no help in the horizon,” Cruz tweeted. “We will make it.”

Cruz said that FEMA is not adequately responding.

Cruz is pleading for water for the island’s residents. The mayor tweeted this five times:

But Brock says he doesn’t have time for her ‘nonsense.’

The power in a San Juan hospital collapsed overnight and Brock has “filtered her out.”

By official estimates, less than 12 percent of power is restored on Puerto Rico after the hurricane devastated the U.S. territory. The island’s farmers are suffering a near total loss. FEMA has deleted the part of its web page which stated previously that 95 percent of Puerto Rico is without power. It is only offering good news, not the reality of what’s happening on the island.

“You’re doing a heck of a job, Brownie,” George W. Bush said to his FEMA director after hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans.
